Beginner Levels
Level 1 is for Beginners. It is an introduction to the Computer, the Mouse and the Keyboard.
You will learn about the Taskbar, the Toolbars, Opening & Closing Windows, how to create
an Icon, how to create a Folder, how to install a program from a CD and how to send and retrive a simple email. A MUST FOR THE BEGINNER.
Level 2 is an Introduction to Word Processing. Here is where you learn most of the Basics—including
Word Wrap, Formatting, Saving, Printing, Spell Check, how to retrieve Data
files using a Flash Drive and how to send and retrive a simple email. THIS IS WHERE YOU LEARN MOST OF THE BASICS YOU WILL NEED FOR ALL SUBSEQUENT COURSES.
Intermediate Levels
INTERMEDIATE WORD (Level 3) is a much higher level of Word Processing and can only
be successful after mastery of Level 2 has been achieved. Here you learn all about
Formatting a document, Inserting pictures or graphics, changing Fonts, Sizes, Colors, Cutting & Pasting, several different ways of checking Spelling, how to Save and Retrive Data files using a Flash drive, how to use email to send your work home plus lots of
"tricks" used in DeskTop Publishing.
INTERNET (Level 4) is learning all about Web Pages and how to
navigate the INTERNET. You will use much of what you learned in Level 2 and 3. There is much emphasis on GOOGLE and other search engines, and
how to use them. They are quite remarkable tools. Students are taught how to use the new Gleneagles Country Club interactive website. Here is where you read or print the Eagle, make Club Reservations, look up member phone numbers and addresses. You will be encouraged to choose a topic to explore
whether it be a trip, print a boarding pass, get tickets to a show, or researching a Doctor, medication, a diagnosis or look at
your family tree.
MAINTAINING YOUR COMPUTER is as important as running a household: you have to clean, get rid of junk, take out the trash and
make sure no illness invades it. The same should be done to your computer. Just like any household,
your computer will run better and safer.
Advanced Levels
E-Mail is exactly what it implies, however it is not just writing and receiving email, but it is how
to Blind Carbon Copy, download files and photos, how to send attachments, create groups and how to clean up your email
so that you do not send bulk email addresses on to the world for the spammers to get their hands on.
You MUST have mastered Level 2 and 3 in order to take this class.
Introduction to EXCEL is an electronic Spreadsheet program. This introduction is for Students who would like to use Excel but know nothing about it. They will learn how to enter numerical values or data into
the rows or columns of a spreadsheet, and to use them for
calculations, or for organizing things such as address or phone books, collections of items, or keeping track of data when working for a organization. It is a program for many uses. STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED LEVEL 3 BEFORE TAKING THIS COURSE.
PRINT SHOP is a basic desktop publishing program. You will learn how to create greeting cards, business cards, signs or posters, award certificates, and mailing labels. You can be very creative,
but you don’t have to be an artist, it's all done for you. It is fun, but again a foundation of computer basics is necessary to fully explore this very productive software. Your "rewards" are your achievements.
PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS is the #1 selling consumer photo-editing software*. Adobe® Photoshop® Elements
combines power and simplicity so you can make ordinary photos extraordinary. This is where you
learn how to fix and have fun with your digital photos.
